Honey Do: Want Your Wife To Give You Some Tonight? Do This.

Yes! Welcome to the debut of Honey Do: the Web Series, the whip-smart, funny, straight, no-chaser set of videos meant to help our men get a little act right in them when it comes to making us ladies H.A.P.P.Y. Honey Do is the brainchild of my running partner, Execumama, a.k.a. the brilliant and beautiful Akilah Richards and me, Denene Millner of MyBrownBaby. The video version of our new project, Honey Do: 8 Simple Ways Husbands Can Make Their Wives Happy, the web series is produced by Tyler New Media Inc. for MyCulture.tv, an awesome new website featuring high-quality original programming for us, by us. Be sure to stop by MyCulture.tv to see some of the other great shows there!

In this episode of Honey Do, we tell husbands why we fake sleep when they’re looking for some loving (hint: It has a little something to do with a mop!) and what they can do to get some TONIGHT. You might want to send the link to his email. Hit him up on Twitter. Post it on his FB page. And then let the magic happen…

  1. Damn girls, I AM June Cleaver! Do I need to stop that? My man still gets his because he takes care of all the financial responsibility so I can be that super hot West Indian June Cleaver. I love doing everything for everyone all the time. Now when he sees me doing too much he will put his foot down and tell me in his big daddy way “Woman, go sit your busy tail down and let you children do some work”. That’s pretty nookie worthy if you ask me! :-]

Love this video series ladies and I look forward to seeing more 🙂

    • Denene@MyBrownBaby

LOL! Shelly, you don’t have to stop doing what you love to do for your family. And I love that your man plays his part in the relationship the two of you have built together and recognizes when you’re going overboard and gives you the space to sit and breathe. Definitely nookie worthy!

But there’s still the disconnect, we think, for men who don’t recognize all of that hard work as, well, work. These days, with so many of us working outside of the home, coming home to a sink-full of dirty dishes, a house full of hungry mouths to feed, hours of homework to assist with and check, after school activities to drive to and the list goes on, turns into a second, third and fourth job for wives/moms—one for which we receive no pay and, on all too many days, little gratitude. We’re not suggesting women go on strike or stop doing what they love (if they love it); we’re telling men, “Hey, you’re not getting any booty tonight because sis is tired. Help her out every once in a while with all of the stuff she has to do in her second, third and fourth gigs at the house and she will make more time for you.” YES!

  2. I am a BIG fan of chore-play! It’s only practical, after all. If my husband wants me to have enough energy for some loving later, well then, take this mountain of laundry off my hands! I can take a nap right quick and be ready for some all-night action!

  3. Congrats on your debut, Ladies! Two things: (1) Um…y’all do *a lot*…in fact, sounds like you do a whole lot of the stuff June was doing! (2) Have you ever wondered if June was giving up or playing sleep, too?

I’ll be sharing your show with the married men (and women) I know…and encouraging my husband prospects to study up!

  4. I’ve been wanting one of those “I love my hubby” shirts forever. They’re so cute. Great job, ladies. Good to finally see you in live action (sorta).

    • Denene@MyBrownBaby

Thank you! And wasn’t Akilah’s shirt ADORABLE?! She’s so snazzy!

      • I’m gonna weigh in, but it’s too much to type, lol. Greg and I sat here and bickered through the show because he’s the one doing the laundry and dishes. More on that later… I NEED to know where miss Akilah bought her shirt ’cause Greg wants me to get one :).

        I am LOVING the show!!!

        • Denene@MyBrownBaby

LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!! But how about I love that you watched it with Greg? And how awesome is Greg to do the laundry and dishes?! But you don’t have to tell me girl; for every dish he washes, I’ll bet you move 10 mountains. Show your appreciation for what he does do and then explain to him a few more things he can get done, too. LOL!

  5. can you see me high 5’ing y’all?? i’m high 5’ing y’all…as i send this to my husband. thx, ladies!!! 🙂

  6. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!! You both are soooo natural on cam and funny while spitting the truth about our beloved Y Chromes!! Denene….OMGoodness….marriage elves?….classic! May I add another Honey Do to your great list…..please husbands/significant others….do not allow the phrase, “You look NICE,” spill out of your mouths when complimenting us after we spent all day getting dolled up to go out with you!! We hate it….google another adjective….try pretty, beautiful, stunning, elegant….hell….how ’bout SEXY??…for crying out loud. Limpy compliments linger in our brains as you’re head hits the pillow ready for some action. Save “NICE” for describing LeBron’s three pointer.

    • “Save “NICE” for describing LeBrons three pointer.”

Thank you! I will be using this the next time I get a nice…

    • Denene@MyBrownBaby

YES!!!!! No more limp compliments (though I must say that my husband is the MASTER of compliments!). Yours is a common complaint we hear from our girlfriends, though!

  7. Daaamn, now we gotta be a thesaurus too in order to get some? Maybe we should just keep a list of adjectives on a piece of paper in our pocket and consult the list each time, checking one off everytime we use it.

  8. You ladies did a great job! I think I’m fortunate in that I’m one of the lucky ladies who has a hubby who DOES help with cooking and cleaning and taking care of our daughter. But then again, we’re in a fairly unique situation. So even though a lot of what you said doesn’t apply to me personally, I TOTALLY get where you’re coming from. I can’t wait to see the next webisode!

    • Denene@MyBrownBaby

Thanks, Jennae—that means a lot to us! (Um, and maybe you could clone your man? #justsayin’.)

  9. Hello Ladies,
I just wanted to say that I enjoyed the video. Although I was a little speechles, I still watched it twice. Most women are afraid to talk about such deep relationship issues publicly and I have heard many stories from women about men who are not doing their part or nearly enough.

If you look up the word spoiled in the dictionary, you will probably find my picture right next to that word. An example, I’m married for over ten years, and I do not recall the last time I’ve made my husband and kids breakfast on the weekends. Somehow, my husband assigned that job to himself. Can you say touch down!

    • Denene@MyBrownBaby

Oh man—you CAN NOT BEAT weekend breakfast! There’s nothing like sleeping in while your man and the kids whip up something nice and then call you down to enjoy… it’s the best! Guaranteed nooks for that!

  10. Zakkiyah Wiggins

Ok I soooooooooooooo loved this video and I definitely look forward to seeing more. I just love it when I know I’m not the only one thinking about certain things like this or what will make me want to just give him SOME…it don’t take much, but dammit when you do it it’s gona be a damn situation up in this camp.

  11. Right On! I believe in all dat! 🙂

  12. I’m not married, but LOVE THIS!!! Congrats ladies. These are really great tips… and ya’ll look good on camera.

  13. Yeah, ha! Nice try. There are more single women than there are single men. You start demanding housework as a condition for sex and guess who’s getting his sex elsewhere?

    • Denene@MyBrownBaby

No one is suggesting that housework is a condition for sex. We are simply saying that by the end of the day, after doing ALL of the heavy lifting, the last thing we want to at to the list of “things to do” is doing you. So if you care about your wife and what it takes to make HER HAPPY (what a concept!), perhaps it wouldn’t kill you to participate in the upkeep of the home and life you are building together. It’s really that simple.
