Check Out Mari’s Latest Scholastic Kids Press Blog Post On Gardening!

My Mari has been hard at work at her gig as a Scholastic Kids Press reporter, using her free summer vacation time to write stories for Scholastic’s online news service. Her latest piece, “Planting A Garden With My Mom,” about our annual ritual of hooking up the container garden on our back deck, is up on the site, and I’m so very pleased to share it with you. Here’s a snippet:

One of my favorite summer activities that I always look forward to is planting our annual garden with my mom. Since our backyard is very shady, we can’t plant the flowers in the ground, so we plant them in pots. The end result: colors everywhere!

Mari! Rocks! Socks! Please click here to read Mari’s Scholastic blog post in its entirety; two snaps, a twist and a super juicy e-hug for those who take two secs to leave my baby a word of encouragement beneath her super cutie story.

Mari you ROCK! You are definitely a role model already! I can’t wait to tell my daughters about this article so they can read for themselves and so I can brag on you. You are setting an example for my little 4, 7 and 8 year old daughters! I want to show them how beautiful brown girls who look like them can be so awesome and smart and can do great things even at a young age. I bet this will motivate them to want to be like you. And you are exactly the kind of girl I’d love for them to aspire to be! Keep up the great work! MUAH!
