Little League superstar Mo’ne Davis throws like a girl and she’s not afraid to say so—out loud and in Technicolor. The 13-year-old Philadelphia pitcher, who graced the cover of Sports Illustrated this summer after becoming the first girl in history to throw a shutout during the Little League World Series, is the star of a new Chevrolet commercial that sets it straight: she’s an athlete, she’s got skills, and folk better bow down to the prowess of girls who can ball.

In the commercial, directed by Spike Lee, Mo’ne reads an open letter to America that reads, in part:

“I have a passion. Every day of the week, I’m playing soccer, basketball or baseball. I stand for girls who want to play sports with the boys and to be a role model for people, young and old. I throw 70 miles per hour. That’s throwing like a girl!”

Say that, baby. Say it loud.

I’ve showed Mo’ne’s commercials to the girlpies, both athletes who kick soccer balls, catch and throw softballs and swim competitively—like girls. I encourage you to press play and show this bad boy to every kid you know—girls and boys alike. Spread the word that girl athletes, like Rakim, ain’t no joke.
