The Meredith Vieira Show

Boy what a week! While plotting and planning for the big Lifetime premiere of “With This Ring,” I was asked to fly into New York (twice!) to sit on a mom panel on The Meredith Vieira Show.

Between New York radio deejay Carolina Bermudez, life coach Lauren Zander and me running my big mouth, we had plenty to say—and disagree—about, from how to handle bullying and whether it’s okay to go naked in front of your kids, to co-sleeping with your kids and whether or not it’s not a good idea to let your teenage kids drink alcohol in your presence.

I’m guessing y’all have known me long enough to know my thoughts on most, if not all, of these topics; I’m pretty sure I’ve written about them over the past six years of MyBrownBaby’s existence. Still, it’s always fun to spar with other moms on how we see fit to raise our kids and what’s a straight no-go in our homes. There’s lots of food for thought here. Plus, that Meredith is a hoot!

The first two clips below aired on yesterday’s show. Press play and tell me what you think about the lines we drew in the sand on the subjects Meredith tossed our way. And look out for a second mom panel on The Meredith Vieira Show airing on February 2, 2015 (the video for that one is at the bottom). On that one, Lauren, Carolina and I share the stage with Mel B.

Your answers were spot on! Thank you for being a voice for the common sense, no nonsense mothers out there!!

  2. I agreed with you 100 percent!!

  3. Drinking with your kids?! Listen, I’m 30 years old and my mom saw me drink for the first time when I was 27. Even then, it was with a ‘vacation’ rule as we were at an all-inclusive resort to celebrate my sister’s gradation. Although we had a ‘pass’ it was still weird and we’ve never had a drink in front of her since. My dad is 65 and his mom has never seen so much as a cigarette in his mouth. She knows he smokes, but its the respect that he grants her that she doesn’t need to see that.
