Please understand, I love my babies with abandon.

But don’t let those cute, chocolately faces fool you. Two whole, looooooooooong weeks of them running amok around this house? Drinking up all the punch, leaving potato chip crumbs all over my good couch and sticky toxic waste-like juice spills on the floors and counters, watching endless SpongeBob, iCarly, and Phineas and Ferb reruns, slamming doors, screaming like lunatics, tattling like little rats, engaging in straight up Ali/Frazier hand-to-hand combat, and interrupting my business calls, talking about, I'm bored?

Oh yeah, it was time for them to go.

I mean, we had our bright moments, Mari and Lila and I: Those Christmas presents particularly the Tasty Science, Chemistry Lab, Fashion Studio, and countless Wii games helped break up the monotony. For like, five minutes a piece and whatnot. And importing their little friends over to the house kinda took the drama down a notch or two, except that five little giggly girls decked out in party dresses for fancy guest room soirees replete with a feast of Tostitos, Cheez-its, and Chewy Sweet Tarts, can trash a room better than Axl Rose on a post-concert adult elixir high.

Mostly, Mari and Lila wanted to hang up under us. Which is really sweet and great and all for, like, the first day. But fifteen? Fifteen?!

Uh, uh no ma'am. Jesus be the homeroom bell on the first day of school after a long break.

They gone.

Let the church say, Aaaaaaaaaaa-men!

  1. LMAO… because I can relate too well to this one. Every time my behind hit a seat I was being asked to help do something, to get something or being reminded that I, and all of my college going final-bound friends were a real vacation kill. And even after finals I was a vacation kill because I actually thought vacation was supposed to mean rest. Ha!

  6. 3 Boys and an Old Lady

I'm sure they're be no tardies tomorrow. Mine go back tomorrow. Gotta echo Rose-Anne's comment, I haven't been this giddy since…last September either. (SMILE)

  7. That's too funny. I don't have kids of my own but I bet my own mom was doing the same "praise Jesus" dance when we were kids.

  8. Joyful Mom at HappyGirlHair.com

I can picture you in your empty house with arms stretched to the heavens, LOL!

Question: What do you do when the kiddos are homeschooled?

    Answer/Option #1: Send them to Granny's house.

    Or

    Answer/Option #2: Hide in the closet like I do…lol

  13. I haven't occupied my uterus yet…but this is hilarity. Happy New Year and thank heavens the kids returned back to school…Being a mom is the toughest job on earth no?

  14. Wurd sistahz!! I even jumped the gun and got her up extra early on Monday and took her to school…branht-branht-branht…so excited that I forgot today was the first day back…so off to work with me she continued the..(everything you said Dee)…and "I'm bored" just before 4:30…I was breaking my neck gettin up out there…let's go home wash up eat watch a movie and go to bed…early!! and let the church say…..

  15. Although mine are older now and take care of themselves except for the chauffeuring (with a little yell… erm, firm talking), I know exactly what you mean! If I look in the refrig for something it has a better chance of being there!

  16. OMG…my kids used to go to day care, but now we have a nanny at home. I'm a full time grad student, so while I appreciate the convenience, I totally miss being able to come home in the middle of the day and have a little bit of piece and quite. Our little three week break was not a break at all, because I had those two little rugrats under my feet and they are still there plus I have classes and teaching to do….My four year old cannot turn 5 soon enough…and take his little sister with him…

  17. Yes, Honey!! the same thing at my house too!! LOL
They went back to school today and I went back to work on yesterday (Monday).

  18. I'll give you an AMEN and a Halleluyer (said like Madea). Let me just say, it gets better as they get older. I PROMISE

  19. OMG, I thought I was the only one who wanted to shout when the school bus rolled up yesterday for my 9yo. My 3yo was at preschool for most of the Xmas week and last week. However 2 additional days plus the weekend(Xmas eve and Xmas, NYE and NY) with both in the house all day long is enough to make a non-drinker pull out a glass. The constant bikering, wrestling matches in the middle of the floor, constant snacking and juice drinking all day long, and the Xmas toys on every level of the house was slowly pushing me over the edge. Let the church say Amen, Amen, Amen! for school!

  20. I know what you mean. I did the happy dance when my princess zaria went back to school. We had so much fun during the break though. The favorite was our mommy/daughter day at the mall and Bath and Body Works. You gotta cherish those memories!

  21. MelADramatic Mommy

Speak it, sistah! We were fortunate enough to have our DS go to my moms house for a whole week! But, I was still happy to have the alarm go off this morning. We all function better with a routine. Teachers are angels!

  22. I am sooo with you, but one of mine got sick so she is leaning on my shoulder as I type this. Sweet baby Jesus is help us all. LOL!

    Winks & Smiles,
    Wifey

  23. Right. Except mine are sick this week! I am going on 3 weeks here….God help me.
