I'm shaking my head. The sad thing is that the crowd was going wild. Why??? Will they be cheering 5 years from now when they are on Jerry Springer trying to figure out just where they went wrong?

  2. Ms. Understood

I heard Anderson Cooper mention this earlier on Larry King Live. To be honest, the performance did not bother until the very end. That last ten seconds was too much. Maybe I'm too lenient.

then they wonder why little girls get abducted and end up missing or raped—keep a little girl little and not make her GROWN doing GROWN folk things!!

  4. Not all right. I wonder if their parents know they have a right and responsibility to say "no."

Sadly, I know plenty of moms who would have no problem with this and would declare it "cute." I think that is the crux of the issue.

Many people think that encouraging children to act and dress in a sexually suggestive way is a cute intimation of adult behavior. They fail to see that it puts the child at risk in myriad ways.

  6. Wow. It's sad too because the girls are clearly gifted dancers. Their turns are amazing. How great would it be if they were doing something more appropriate.

I agree honor22. I've been to many of these national dance competitions when my daughters were competing and these girls are obviously very talented. Too bad the adults didn't choose something more age appropriate.

there.are.no.words. What are they like 9? What ever happened to the Nutcracker ballet? The truly sad part is that they probably won 1st place.

  9. I saw this earlier this morning, and I was completely shocked. Beyonce and her dancers in the actual video have on more clothes than the young ladies in this competition.

I honestly don't know what to say. The talent is definitely there, however, the outfits? Goodness.

  10. Wow! I can't believed any parents allowed their daughters to be exploited in such a way.

And we wonder why. That's ALL I can say

There are so many things wrong with this picture. When I was little, I did dance with recitals, competitions and the whole bit. We wore form-fitting outfits, but they were leotards — not lingerie. Their dance moves were suggestive, but they wouldn't have been quite as inappropriate had they been wearing some damn clothes! They really are talented dancers, but whose bright idea was it to have these little girls dancing to this song in the first place?!?

And the fact that the crowd is eating it up reminds me of a personal experience. My best friend and I sang in an Apollo-style competition when we were in high school, and up until the end of the show, we were by far the best act. In the end though, we lost out to a group of elementary school girls dancing to a Janet Jackson song who followed the moves in the song's video. They started off wearing black jackets and wound up ripping them off midway through the dance to reveal skimpy bra tops and tight short shorts.

Just like this video the crowd ate it up. I, on the other hand, was backstage watching and almost had a heart attack. All I could think was that if any dance teacher ever made me do something like that, it would be the last performance my mother ever let me do.

  13. I have boys, and I just cried. It's so sad that we could think that our girls and boys are not worthy. The only thing they can do is shake there rear end. We don't realize that when we show that sex at this age is cute, our girls grow up believing that sex is what they can use, what they are all about. We can't be deceived into believing that we aren't teaching our girls about for play, and sex by listening and dancing inapprorpriately to these videos.

  14. ya'll are acting like you've been under a rock. don't act like u don't know where and how these kids learned these dances….. stop letting your kids watch grown folks (beyonce) pop it & drop it.

it's so hard raising good parents!

    LOL

  15. Marvelous Mommy

They are great dancers but talk about skimpy!!

There are too many mamas out there trying to live vicariously through there little girls. A lot of them don't have it anymore so they many their mini-mes shake it for them, no matter how inappropriate in may be. Yes there are some moms who are thinking about a future for their daughter and making her the money to send her to school, but in the long run I think people lose sight of that and competition and jealousy take over.

    Peace, Love and Chocolate

  17. The best part about this is their parents see nothing wrong with what those little girls were wearing…… deep deep sigh….
