It’s quite simple, really: music heals. And right about now, we need some healing. When I’m in that kind of space, when self-care is paramount for me to make my next move, take my next step, my next breath, I turn to the artists who use their art to uplift, to motivate, to shout out, to remind us that we some baaaaaaaad muthas who always manage to stand tall. I put this Spotify playlist together last night after completing the first leg of a particularly challenging project in the middle of the debacle that was the U.S. presidential elections; Anderson.Paak, Common, A Tribe Called Quest, Donny Hathaway, Ledisi, Bahamadia, Lady of Rage, Gil Scott Heron and so many more are giving me… wings. I hope this playlist does the same for you. Enjoy it here on MyBrownBaby, or follow it on my personal Spotify page. (Note: this is an adult playlist, not for little ears. For a cute, kid-friendly jam list with dope music the whole family can listen to, follow my Denene’s Car Tunes playlist on Spotify.) Enjoy!
