Honey Do: No Thank You, Mr. Fix It.

Welcome to episode three of Honey Do: the Web Series, the whip-smart, funny, straight, no-chaser set of videos meant to help our men get a little act right in them when it comes to making us ladies H.A.P.P.Y. Honey Do is the brainchild of my running partner, Execumama, a.k.a. the brilliant and beautiful Akilah Richards and me, Denene Millner of MyBrownBaby.

In this episode, Akilah and I break down why talking is so important to wives and how husbands can better communicate with their mates when she shares her thoughts/problems with her best friend the man she loves. Husbands: know that only one tool is required, and it works better than anything you can find down there at the Home Depot.

  1. Now see, I have a husband who wants to TALK about EVERYTHING! He always tells me that women would kill for a man who listens to them and wants to discuss and communicate. Dammit, I can’t let him see this post!! Great video ladies 😉

LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that’s funny! Okay, you have a pass on showing this one to him. But dang, can he give some lessons to the rest of them?!

  2. This is interesting….as a family therapist …I see women struggle with this consistently and you guys are soo right in regards to the male point of view. I can’t tell you how many men will sit with me and give me a version of thier wife talking and its a high pitch ranting that (in their ears) doesn’t even stop for a breathe. The real truth to it is just as you said love your mate so much that you..want/need to listen…thanks for sharing!

  3. My husband once confessed that after awhile he only hears noise (especially since he says after awhile I slip back into the patois and he just hears nada).

After the hard eyeroll, I actually listened and now I do try to give the brief 5-10min version of the problem. It’s hard! Really hard. But I do it. This way he can actually give me the attention and response I need instead of getting overwhelmed by the volume of my words.

**But seriously, why can’t men do long, detailed conversations???
