I ‘clare fo’ sweet Baby Jesus that I’m sick to death of Carly Rae Jepsen’s 2012 summer anthem “Call Me Maybe”; the celebrity video send-ups of the song got played, like, every five minutes during summer vacay, and my youngest daughter, Lila, straight wore it out on every machine she could blast it through—the iPod, the car radio, the MacBook, the TV. At some point, I think I might have even banned it. I’m still recovering. But good grief, why didn’t anyone tell me about the adorable video Carly Rae made with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots? Of all the foolish “Call Me Maybe” videos I saw over the summer, this one is the one I would have wanted to see. And you call yourselves friends? Well friends don’t let MyBrownBaby miss out on videos featuring The Roots. Like, ever. Get it together!
In case you missed it, too, here’s the video, with Carly Rae and that fool Jimmy Fallon (I super #heart him) on vocals, and The Roots crew playing the song on… wait for it… kindergarten musical instruments. I’m talking toy xylophones, kazoos, finger pianos and, yes, that would be ?uestLove scraping the “fish” percussion with his Afro pick.
Show the babies.
You’re welcome.

That’s brightened my day. The Roots are the phenomenal and so much fun.
This is one of my kids’ favorite videos. Ever since The Roots were on Gabba, my oldest has been a fan. Love my family!
