MyBrownBaby Is Working Again. Come Back—We’ve Missed You. And Won’t Send Viruses To Your Computer.

I love blogging. I really do. It’s a writer’s dream—a space where I can practice my art and critical thought and friendly debate on black parenting paint pictures of color and magic and light. And editors can’t screw up my words.

But complete strangers can. Over the past few days, some HackerBastards stomped into the MyBrownBaby space and effed this site all the way the eff up. Just went nuts. Got downright disrespectful. Violent. Sent MyBrownBaby links on Twitter to p*rn sites. Had FaceBook calling MyBrownBaby the most dangerous website on the planet. Made big, bright hot red warnings take over the screens of anyone trying to read our words. It was a hot mess. And over the course of two days, folk (understandably) unsubscribed or just stayed away, battering traffic and causing all the great work we’ve been doing here to go unread by MyBrownBaby faithfuls and parents looking for solid, thoughtful, black parent opinion on childrearing and the day’s news.

There was panic. Some crying. A lot of cursing. Lots of calming words from my friends Afrobella, Luvvie and CincoMom. And some hard work by my designer Jamie Varon of Shatterboxx, who, with a little help from her techie friends, stopped the madness and restored MyBrownBaby back to the people.

MyBrownBaby is back! The evil viruses are gone (promise)! Links to p*rn—gone! GREAT CONTENT—it’s back! Go read everything you missed. We had some great discussion going on—about Chris Brown and RiRi, white kids and racist YouTube rants, a black mom’s struggle to get her kids’ school to be more accountable to her children, and that new, new, SWV’s comeback video. Yaas!

Of course, I’m monitoring the site for any more tomfoolery, but I wanted to extend a heartfelt apology to anyone who was affected by the HackerBastards—a bunch of people who clearly have nothing else better to do with their time other than to rob, steal and ruin the hard work of others for kicks.

MyBrownBaby is back in business. Carry on. And have a wickedly delicious weekend!

  1. That sounds like one scary @$$ ordeal! I’m so glad everything has been restored. 🙂 Now I’m off to check my computer’s security and see how much one of these techies cost to have in my corner in case something like this happens to me.

  2. I will stay true to you, you tuned me into a lot and I Love your blog :0) Thanks for being a true blogger.

  3. Glad everything is up and working again.

  4. I don’t know if you’ve seen this, or if I’m just late to the party, but I thought you might like it. I’ll not post a link so’s not to make leery of more viruses. It’s an artist, Cbabi Bayoc that is making a painting a day of ‘present black dads’. Dads, being “present”. The work looks amazing so far.
I added some spaces as to purposefully not link it.

  5. I was wondering what was going on. I work on a military base and the computer blocked your site for “malicious content “. I was like what? Not mbb. Glad you’re up and running again.

  6. I will never stray. Lovin’ that you made it through all of it. ;0)

  7. We will always love and return to this site!
