Beyonce Calls Rumors She Used Surrogate with Blue Ivy ‘Very Odd’

Every woman struggles with fear and insecurity but, as Oprah Winfrey pointed out on the red carpet for Beyonce’s new HBO film, we didn’t really expect that to be the case with Beyonce.

Notoriously private Beyonce has been in a sharing mood of late. Not only is she revealing intimate details about her life as a mom and her growth as a woman in her documentary, “Beyonce: Life is But a Dream,” she also sat down with Vogue and dropped some surprising revelations for their March cover story.

Here are some of her more interesting observations about motherhood, taken from Vogue:

On her daughter, Blue Ivy: “She’s my road dog. She’s my homey, my best friend.”

On the connection they forged during childbirth: “I felt very maternal around eight months…. And I thought I couldn’t become any more until I saw the baby…. But it happened during my labor because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn’t think about my own pain…. We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication.” She added: “Everything that scared me just was not present in that room. So for me to really let go and really appreciate every contraction … it was the best day of my life.”

Her friend Gwyneth Paltrow on Beyonce as a mom: “Blue was sleeping in her arms, across her body and B was listening back to what she had been working on,” Paltrow said. “I thought, ‘This is how you do it. You do what you love with who you love included.’ ” Paltrow later added: “When she is working onstage, she has more power than any woman I’ve ever seen. She would never say it and has never said it, but I feel she knows with every fiber of her being that she is the best in the world at her job.”

Her HBO documentary: “My story has never been told — no one really knows who I am,” Beyoncé said. In the film, she even hashes out her 2011 decision to split with her father Mathew Knowles as her business manager. “This movie has healed me in so many ways. It makes me want to cry.”

On the surrogacy rumors: “That was very odd. Who even thinks that? Like, who would make that up…. You can’t take it too seriously.” Her mother, Tina Knowles, says the rumors are “the most ridiculous thing in the world…. It’s tough as a mother because people say all this crazy stuff and I want to say, ‘You should tell them,’ sometimes. She’ll say, ‘Mom, I don’t owe them that. Let them say what they want to say.’ ”

She does read stories about herself online but she won’t read the comments: “Don’t scroll down!” she advised. “You’re definitely going to get your feelings hurt.”

On her body: “Right now, after giving birth, I really understand the power of my body,” she said. “I just feel my body means something completely different. I feel a lot more confident about it. Even being heavier, thinner, whatever. I feel a lot more like a woman. More feminine, more sensual. And no shame.”

Mrs. Carter is ready for more kids: “When I was younger, there were moments where I said, ‘I’m not going to have children,” Beyoncé said. “And then moments when I wanted four. And now I definitely want another, but I don’t know when.”

Wanting a normal life for her kids: “At some point it’s very important to me that my daughter is able to experience life and run through the sprinklers and have slumber parties and trust and live and do all the things that any child should be able to do,” Beyoncé said. “School visits and lemonade stands and all that stuff. It’s very important for me.”
