Real talk: I’ve got hips and booty for days. Days, y’all. And I’ve been lugging alla this around since I was young enough to rock diapers, I promise you this. Of course, these days, thanks to a couple of well-endowed pop cultural icons, having a bodacious derriere is “in,” and with that comes accommodation—jeans cut to fit both the butt and the waist, fabric that stretches but manages to avoid looking like a cheap pair of ’80s spandex, fashion spreads that celebrate, rather than make fun of, curves. And now, Jockey® is in on the action with Skimmies®, a revolutionary new undergarment that ups the game for us curvy fashionistas.
To understand the pure awesome that is Skimmies®, first you must understand the magnitude of big booty problems. Like wedgies. They are the bane of a big booty girl’s existence, as regular panties, no matter the size, never, ever can just sit on our butts. Eventually—like, five seconds after you get them on—they slide over our lady lumps and end up where a yard of fabric simply does not feel good. Like, ever. Do you know what it’s like to walk around all day with what feels like an atomic wedgie? Plus, have you any idea how much it sucks to see that panty line through your cute jeans or a bodycon dress? No. Just… nope. It’s not cute. Neither is having thick thighs that rub together while you walk, making that sashay you’d like to rock with your cute skirt or flowy dress feel a lot less sexy. Be clear: life with a big butt, thick thighs and round hips ain’t no crystal stair.
But the new Jockey® Skimmies® slipshorts make it all better for us curvy girls. The revolutionary new underwear smooths like a slip and covers like a short, changing the game for those of us who’ve long struggled with wedgies, panty lines and rubbing thighs. The Skimmies® magic is in the sleek, seamless design and the lightweight, non-constricting coverage it gives when you’re wearing them.
Jockey® sent me three pair of Skimmies®, and I test drove those babies like nobody’s business. I rocked them with my favorite dark jeans; they’re tight and fit my booty just right, but if I wear them with anything other than a thong, my lines are ruined. Skimmies® kept your girl covered, sans the panty lines, making my jeans look better than ever. I also wore them with my favorite bubble skirt, a delicious number with a high waist and plenty of room for my butt and hips. Now, I love this skirt and how it fits, but it’s short, so I’m always concerned that when I’m walking up stairs or riding an escalator or sitting up on a dais that someone’s going to get a little extra peek at my goodies. With Skimmies®, I wore my fav skirt with confidence, knowing that the length of the shorts gave a sistah a little modesty to work with. Bonus: the silky-smooth microfiber stretch fabric didn’t squeeze the lifeblood out of my body, plus it helped my thighs glide, rather than rub, against one another.
Bonus: I wore those bad boys to the club on Saturday night and danced to 90s hip hop and R&B—please understand, I was going hard on the dance floor to my favorite music because who doesn’t dance hard to 90s hip hop and R&B, plus, I don’t get out much so mama didn’t know how to act!—and the lightweight fabric breathed beautifully, didn’t make me feel icky down there and looked awesome while I was shaking my groove thang in my favorite harem pants.
SCORE!
Skimmies® are totally my new must-have accessory. Fashion comfort zone? I’m in there!
Dig it: Jockey® is challenging you to expand your fashion comfort zone and enjoy everyday adventures with its Seize the Day in Skimmies® challenge. The notion behind the challenge? Studies show that most women often have only one or two outfits we consistently wear when we’re going out. They’re comfortable, but they also signal we’re stuck in a rut, worrying about how our outfits “fit” us and choosing dresses, pants or skirts that embrace comfort over fashion. Jockey wants us to step outside our comfort zone and wear something dope that makes us feel fab.
Go over to the Jockey Facebook page to join the challenge and enter for your chance to win $5,000 toward an adventure of a lifetime—a style consultation from Rachel Zoe Studio, a $1,000 shopping spree and a bunch of other cool prizes. I completed a challenge of my own in the Seize the Day in Skimmies® challenge, penning the finish to this phrase: “With Skimmies® I’m free to… ”
And I meant that, too.
Head over to the Jockey Facebook page, not now but right now, and take one of the challenges for your chance to win. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. The contest, sponsored by Jockey International, Inc., ends June 20, 2014 at 11:59 pm ET and is open to legal residents of the U.S. and D.C. You must be 18+ at the time of entry. Hope to win these sound like they might work for me too!
I would love to try them! Anything that doesn’t give me a wedgie or show panty lines is exactly what I am looking for. I laugh at underwear in most stores because the odds of it covering my butt are slim! And you know, I hate to spend the money without knowing how they’ll work, so being able to try them out would be awesome!
My biggest underwear issue is panty lines!
i gots booty for daaayyys. so i know the struggle. the biggest pain in my ass is find a pair of panties that provide full coverage, are comfy, stay put AND are cute. it’s always some never all. sounds like skimmies might finally be the one to win my heart.
